Praia da Culatra

Praia da Culatra is one of the key barrier-island beaches of the Ria Formosa, officially located in Faro but most commonly accessed by boat from Olhão. The beach sits on Ilha da Culatra, one of the sandy islands that separate the Atlantic Ocean from the protected lagoon, giving visitors a strong sense of crossing from the mainland into a quieter maritime landscape. VisitPortugal describes Culatra as part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park and notes that the island is accessible only by boat from Olhão, with no motorised vehicles on the island.
